A series of portraits celebrating Paninaro. The young and carefree subculture of Italians with an affection for dirt bikes and slick attire who populated the squares of Milan and Rome in the mid-80s. A European take on the American dream, the Mediterranean image of the casuals. Typically upper class school teens who just wanted to have fun, listen to synth music and cast off tradition. Whilst the Paninaro were a product of the 1980’s, the series is enriched with different techniques that are inspired by ’60 pop art.

Een serie portretten ter ere van Paninaro. De subcultuur van jonge en zorgeloze Italianen met een voorliefde voor crossmotoren en gelikte kleding die halverwege de jaren 80 de pleinen van Milaan en Rome bevolkten.Een Europese kijk op de Amerikaanse droom, het mediterrane antwoord op de casuals. Typisch ‘upper class’ jongeren die vooral plezier wilden hebben, naar synthmuziek luisterden en traditie verwierpen. Terwijl de Paninaro een product zijn van de jaren 80, is de serie verrijkt met verschillende technieken die zijn geïnspireerd op pop-art uit de jaren '60.
